COLLEYVILLE LAWN CARE
Your Lawn Care & Landscaping Company in Colleyville, Texas
Jhernandez Lawn Service is a family-owned lawn care and landscaping company in Colleyville, TX, run by owner Jose Hernandez. He has worked North Texas lawns for more than 20 years and today looks after more than 100 properties across Colleyville and the surrounding cities.
Colleyville is a large-lot city, and that changes the work. Half-acre and acre properties take real mowing time, the beds are bigger, the tree canopy is older, and the standard the neighborhood holds is higher. We price by measured turf rather than a flat rate, and on bigger properties we plan landscape work in phases instead of quoting one enormous install.
Everything is quoted in writing before we start, and there is no contract to sign. You call or text Jose directly, he prices the work himself, and he is on the properties with his own crew.
✓ 20+ years working North Texas lawns
✓ 100+ properties on the route

WHY COLLEYVILLE HOMEOWNERS CALL US
What You Get With a Local Owner-Operator
01
One Person Accountable
Jose quotes the job, works the properties and answers the phone. No call center, no rotating subcontractor, no explaining your yard to someone new every month.
02
Priced by the Actual Yard
Colleyville lots run from a quarter acre to well over one. We measure the turf and quote that, so a big property isn’t guessed at and a smaller one isn’t charged like a big one.
03
Written Prices, No Contract
Every job is priced in writing before it starts and the mowing rate holds for the season. Nothing gets added to a bill that wasn’t quoted first.
04
Design and Upkeep Together
The crew that installs the beds is the crew that maintains them. A landscape holds its shape when the same people who planted it are the ones shaping it a year later.
LOCAL CONDITIONS
What Colleyville Soil and Lot Size Do to a Lawn
Colleyville sits in the Eastern Cross Timbers, on sandier and shallower ground than the heavy Blackland clay east of the airport, often over a hard subsoil, in native post oak country. It drains faster, dries out faster and holds fertilizer for less time. Then add lot size: on a half-acre or an acre, small mistakes in watering and feeding scale up into a very visible problem.
SOIL
Cross Timbers Sandy Loam
Lighter, faster-draining soil that leaches nutrients between rains. The fix is lighter, more frequent feeding rather than one heavy application, and compost worked into beds.
GRASS
The Best Grass for North Texas
Bermuda for the big open lots, St. Augustine under Colleyville’s post oaks and cedar elms, zoysia where you want density. Each takes a different cutting height, feeding rate and herbicide.
TREES
Post Oaks and Oak Wilt
Native post oaks resent disturbance, extra irrigation and fill dirt over their roots — which is how a lot of them are lost during a landscape install. Oaks should not be pruned Feb–June.
TIMING
When to Fertilize in Texas
Pre-emergent has to be down and watered in before soil temperatures reach the mid-fifties in late winter, or you fight crabgrass all summer. Feeding runs April through September.
Watering follows the soil. Where a clay lawn wants a long soak two or three times a week, sandier Colleyville ground takes water readily but loses it fast — and on an acre, that difference is the whole water bill.

GOOD TO KNOW
Colleyville Lawn Care Questions
Colleyville lots are large, so mowing here is priced by measured turf area and access rather than a flat neighborhood rate — we measure the actual grass, not the lot. Fertilization is priced per application by turf area. Everything is quoted in writing and the mowing rate holds for the season. Landscape design, tree work, sod and cleanups are quoted by the job after a free walkthrough.
All of Colleyville, TX 76034, including the neighborhoods off Glade Road, Bransford, Cheek-Sparger, Hall-Johnson, Pleasant Run, John McCain Road and Precinct Line, plus the acreage properties and the areas around the Colleyville Nature Center and the Village at Colleyville. Just outside the city we also serve Grapevine, Coppell, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Plano, Highland Village and Corinth.
Yes. Bed design and installation, front-yard renovations, stone borders and edging, plantings and seasonal color, all priced by the job with a written plant list before anything goes in the ground. On Colleyville’s larger lots that usually means planning the property in phases rather than pricing one enormous install, and the crew that puts the beds in is the crew that maintains them afterward.
Bermuda for the big open full-sun lots, St. Augustine under Colleyville’s mature post oak and cedar elm cover, and zoysia where you want density and can water consistently. Colleyville sits in the Eastern Cross Timbers, so the soil runs sandier and drains faster than the Blackland clay east of the airport.
Weekly from April through September while warm-season grass is growing fast, and every other week in the shoulder months. On the larger Colleyville lots a weekly cut is what keeps clippings light enough to leave on the lawn instead of windrowing across half an acre.
Five or six applications a year: pre-emergent in late winter before soil temperatures reach the mid-fifties, a spring green-up feeding, a summer feeding, a late-summer application, and a fall pre-emergent with a winterizer. Colleyville’s sandier Cross Timbers soil holds nutrients less tightly than heavy clay, so lighter and more frequent feeding beats one heavy application.
Yes. Hedges shaped, crape myrtles pruned properly, deadwood and low limbs cleared, and every branch hauled off. Colleyville has a lot of mature post oak and cedar elm, and oaks should not be pruned from February through June because of oak wilt.
Both, and there is no contract either way. Most Colleyville customers are on weekly or biweekly mowing and a landscape maintenance schedule, but one-time yard cleanups, trimming visits, single fertilizer applications and installs are all available on their own.
Jose Hernandez and his own crew. He quotes the work himself, is on the properties, and is who you call or text with a question. No call center, no rotating subcontractor, and no explaining your yard to somebody new every month.

Jose and his crew did a terrific job with our yard maintenance! This is our first week with them and they did an amazing job. We have an oversized multi-level lot and they were very thorough with the mowing, weed-eating and blowing and cleaned everything up very well. So glad to have them!![]()

ABOUT COLLEYVILLE, TEXAS
The City We Work In
Colleyville sits in northeast Tarrant County under the 76034 zip code, between Grapevine and Southlake with Bedford and Hurst to the south. It grew out of farm and ranch land, and it kept the lots when the houses got bigger. Large-lot zoning is the defining feature of the city: quarter-acre minimums across much of it, with plenty of half-acre, acre and wooded acreage properties still on the map.
That is what makes lawn care here a different job than it is a few miles east. A Colleyville property is usually more turf, more bed, more tree canopy and more irrigation than a standard suburban lot, and the neighborhood standard is high enough that letting it slide for two weeks is visible from the street.
The city keeps a good deal of green space to go with it: the Colleyville Nature Center’s trails and ponds, McPherson Park, and the trail system threading between neighborhoods. The Village at Colleyville anchors the commercial side along Colleyville Boulevard. Much of the older tree cover is native post oak and cedar elm, which is beautiful and unforgiving — those trees do not tolerate having their root zones regraded or over-irrigated during a landscape project.
Underneath is Eastern Cross Timbers ground, sandier and shallower than the Blackland clay east of the airport, taking the same late freezes, wet springs and 100-degree stretches. Jose Hernandez has worked North Texas lawns for more than 20 years and now maintains over 100 properties across the area. On a Colleyville acre, that experience mostly shows up as knowing what not to do: not to scalp it in July, not to trench through an oak’s roots, and not to feed sandy ground like it is clay.
