LEWISVILLE LAWN CARE

Your Lawn Care Company in Lewisville, Texas

Looking for a lawn care company in Lewisville, TX? Jhernandez Lawn Service is a family-owned business proudly serving the area, run by owner Jose Hernandez. He has worked lawns across North Texas for more than 20 years and today looks after more than 100 properties.
Lewisville is the largest city on our route and the least uniform. It has been building continuously since the 1950s, so a yard in Old Town and a yard off Round Grove have almost nothing in common except the city limits. We quote each property on what is actually there.
Everything is quoted in writing before we start, and there is no contract to sign. You call or text Jose directly, he prices the work himself, and he is on the properties with his own crew.
✓ 20+ years working North Texas lawns

LOCAL CONDITIONS

There Are Three Different Lewisvilles

Most cities we serve were built in one stretch, so the lawns share a common problem. Lewisville has been under construction for seventy years, and the decade your house went up tells us more about your yard than the street name does. Running one program across all three is the most common mistake made here.
1950s – 1970s

Old Town and the core

Small lots, alley access, and trees that have had sixty years to fill in. The soil was never stripped, so it is the best ground in the city, but the canopy means bermuda has usually given up in the back yard. These lawns want shade-tolerant turf, a high cut and honest advice about which patches are never going to grow grass.
1980s – 2000s

The big subdivision build-out

Most of Lewisville. Mass grading stripped the topsoil and packed the subgrade, then a thin layer of soil and sod went over the top. Twenty-five years later the grass is still rooting in those few inches, which is why the lawn looks fine in April and quits in July. Watering longer and less often does more here than any product.
2010s – NOW

New construction, east and south

Builder sod on fresh fill, no trees of any size yet, and full sun all day. These lawns green up first and burn out fastest, and the beds are still whatever the builder’s landscaper put in. The first two years decide how the lawn behaves for the next twenty, so it is worth getting the watering and the first fall right.
There is a soil boundary running through town as well. The west side sits on the sandier Eastern Cross Timbers and the east side runs into Blackland Prairie clay, so drainage and root depth differ across the city. It is another reason we would rather walk the property than quote from an address.
WHAT WE DO

Lawn Care Services in Lewisville, TX

One crew for the whole property, from the weekly cut to fertilization, trimming and full landscape installs.

Lawn Mowing in Lewisville TX

Weekly or biweekly mowing at the right height for your grass, plus weed-eating, edging along every walk and drive, and hard surfaces blown clean. Alley-access lots in Old Town included.

Landscaping in Lewisville TX

Bed design and installation, plantings, edging, stone borders and full front-yard renovations, priced by the job with a written plant list before anything is ordered.

Lawn Care Fertilizer Service

Five to six applications a year, timed to soil temperature rather than the calendar, and rated to the age and soil of your particular lot. Available on its own if you mow your own lawn.

Tree Trimming in Lewisville TX

Tree and shrub trimming, hedges shaped, crape myrtles pruned properly, and canopies thinned to get light back down to the grass. Old Town’s mature trees are most of this work.

Yard Cleanup in Lewisville TX

Spring and fall cleanups, overgrown and vacant lots, rental turnovers, bed weeding and re-edging, with everything hauled off.

Leaf Removal

One-time or season-long clearing of lawn, beds, fence lines and reachable gutters. In the older neighborhoods this is a repeating job rather than a single November visit.

Sod and Lawn Installation

New bermuda, St. Augustine or zoysia laid on properly prepped ground. On a graded subdivision lot the prep matters more than the sod, and we do not skip it.

Mulch Installation

Beds weeded and re-edged, old crusted mulch broken up, then fresh hardwood, cedar or black mulch at the right depth and kept off the trunks.

Planting Services

Trees, shrubs, flower beds, perennials and seasonal color, with Texas-adapted choices and beds amended rather than dug as a hole full of bagged soil.

DESIGN AND INSTALLATION

Landscaping in Lewisville TX

About half of what we do in Lewisville is landscaping rather than mowing. As a landscaping company in Lewisville, we design and install the beds, borders, plantings and sod, and the same crew maintains them afterward — so nobody is blaming the mowing crew for what the install crew did.
Every landscape job is quoted by the job, with a written plant list and a price, before anything is ordered. No allowances, no “plants to be determined,” no change order after the truck arrives.
The most common Lewisville project is a front yard from the 1990s or 2000s: original builder shrubs now thirty years overgrown, beds that have crept out of their edges, and crusted mulch three inches above the crown of everything. Taking that back to a clean design is a one-day to three-day job and it changes the whole street view of the house.

Landscape design

Bed layout, plant selection and a written plan for the yard before a shovel moves. Texas-adapted plants chosen for the light your yard actually gets, not the light the tag assumes.

Beds, borders and edging

New beds cut and shaped, stone or steel borders set, existing beds re-edged back to a clean line. Edges are what make a yard read as maintained from the curb.

Front-yard renovations

Overgrown builder shrubs removed, beds rebuilt, new plantings, fresh sod where the grass has failed, and mulch. The highest-return job on an older Lewisville house.

Landscape maintenance

Once it is installed, it needs keeping: shrubs shaped on a schedule, beds weeded, mulch refreshed, seasonal color swapped. Bundled with mowing or booked on its own.
RECURRING SERVICE

Lawn Maintenance in Lewisville TX, Season by Season

Most customers hand off the whole year rather than booking a single cut: what gets mowed and when, when the lawn gets fed, when beds get refreshed, and what happens the week a freeze or a heat run changes the plan.
MAR – MAY

Spring

Cleanup, first cuts, spring feeding, bed re-edging and mulch. The newer sunny lots green up two or three weeks ahead of the shaded older neighborhoods, so route timing shifts across the city.
JUN – SEP

Summer

Weekly mowing, cut high, sharp blades, clippings left down. On a thin subdivision lot the mowing height is doing more work than anything in a bag, because the grass has to shade its own roots.
OCT – DEC

Fall

Fall pre-emergent and winterizer, leaf removal on a repeat schedule, perennials cut back. Old Town and the older streets carry most of the leaf load in this city.
JAN – FEB

Winter

Dormant-season trimming, structural pruning, cleanups, landscape installs, and late-winter pre-emergent timed to soil temperature. The one application that decides your crabgrass summer.
TREATMENT PROGRAM

Lawn Care Fertilizer Service and Weed Control in Lewisville TX

You can book the treatment program on its own. Plenty of Lewisville customers mow their own lawn and only want the part that is easy to get wrong: what goes down, at what rate, and when.
LATE WINTER

Pre-Emergent, Timed

Down and watered in before soil temperatures reach the mid-fifties and hold. Usually late February into early March in Denton County, but it follows the weather, not the calendar. Miss it and you spray all summer.
SPRING & SUMMER

Feeding and Broadleaf Control

Green-up feeding, a summer application with iron, and spot broadleaf control as things come up. Rates follow the lot: a thin graded lawn cannot use what a deep-soil Old Town lawn can.
FALL

Second Pre-Emergent

A fall application stops cool-season weeds before they germinate, which is why some lawns come out of winter clean and the one next door comes out full of henbit and poa annua.
THE HONEST PART

Spray Is Not the Whole Answer

Weeds fill gaps. On a thin lawn over graded ground you can spray every month and still have weeds, because nothing is closing the gaps. Correct mowing height and watering do more than another application.
COMMERCIAL & RENTAL PROPERTY

Property Managers, HOAs and Commercial Frontage

Lewisville has far more rental homes, apartment communities, retail frontage and HOA common area than the small cities around it. That work runs differently from a single house, so we quote it differently.

Rental turnovers

A yard that has been let go for two months, brought back to rentable in one visit. Cleared, cut, edged, beds weeded, everything hauled off, photographed if you need it for the file.

Multiple properties, one invoice

If you manage several addresses in Lewisville we quote them together, service them on the same route day and bill monthly on one invoice rather than one per property.

Common areas and frontage

HOA common area, entrance beds, retail and office frontage, mowed and maintained on a fixed schedule so it never becomes the thing a board meeting is about.

Vacant and overgrown lots

Lots that have gone past mowing height and need cutting down before they can be maintained normally. One-time or on a schedule that keeps you clear of a code letter.
WHY LEWISVILLE HOMEOWNERS CALL US

What You Get With a Local Owner-Operator

01

A Person, Not a Platform

Search lawn care in Lewisville and you mostly get booking apps that sell your address to whoever is nearest. Jose quotes the job, works the properties and answers the phone himself.
02

Priced to Your Lot

Lewisville lots are not comparable to each other, so we measure the actual turf and the access instead of quoting a citywide flat rate. The price is written and it holds for the season.
03

Mowing and Landscaping Together

The crew that designs and installs the beds is the crew that maintains them. Nobody has to coordinate three vendors, and nothing gets blamed on the other guy.
04

Set Route Days

Route days are set by area across the city, so your yard is serviced on the same day each week rather than whenever a truck happens to be free.

GOOD TO KNOW

Lewisville Lawn Care Questions

Mowing is priced by measured turf area and access rather than a flat rate. Lewisville covers a lot of ground and the lots are not comparable, from small Old Town lots with alley access to large newer subdivisions, so we measure the actual grass. Fertilizer and weed control are priced per application by turf area. Everything is quoted in writing and the mowing price holds for the season. Landscaping, tree work, sod and cleanups are quoted by the job after a free walkthrough.
Age. Lewisville has been building continuously since the 1950s, so it is really several different cities in one. Old Town has homes from the fifties and sixties with sixty-year-old trees and undisturbed soil. The subdivisions built through the nineties and two-thousands have shallow topsoil over graded subgrade. Newer construction on the east side is still settling in. Those three lawns need different mowing heights, different watering and different treatment schedules, and the mistake most companies make in Lewisville is running one program across all of them.
Bermuda in open sun, St. Augustine or a shade-tolerant zoysia where there is real tree cover. Which one is right for your lot depends partly on where in the city you are. Lewisville sits near the boundary between the sandier Eastern Cross Timbers on the west side and the heavier Blackland Prairie clay to the east, so drainage and root depth genuinely differ across town. We would rather look at the yard than guess from the address.
Both. Landscaping is a large part of what we do in Lewisville: bed design and installation, plant selection, stone borders and edging, front-yard renovations, sod, mulch and seasonal color. Landscape work is quoted by the job with a written plant list before anything is ordered, and the same crew that installs it can maintain it afterward.
Yes. Lewisville has far more rental homes, apartment communities, retail frontage and HOA common area than the small cities around it. We handle rental turnovers, vacant and overgrown lots, common-area mowing and commercial frontage on a recurring schedule, invoiced monthly. Talk to Jose directly about a multi-property quote.
All of Lewisville, including Old Town and the Main Street area, the neighborhoods along Valley Ridge and Josey, Vista Ridge, the Hebron Parkway and Round Grove corridors, Garden Ridge, Highland Village Road, and the areas near Lake Lewisville and the dam. Just outside the city we also serve Highland Village, Flower Mound, Corinth, Coppell, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Grapevine, Colleyville, Addison and Plano.
Late winter, before soil temperatures reach the mid-fifties and hold there. That is usually late February into early March in Denton County, but it follows the weather and not the calendar. Miss the window and you spend the whole summer spraying crabgrass that one timed application would have prevented. A second pre-emergent goes down in fall for cool-season weeds like henbit and poa annua.
Yes. Plenty of Lewisville customers mow their own lawn and only want the treatment program handled properly. Fertilizer and weed control can be booked on its own without mowing service, on a five or six application schedule across the year.
Both, and there is no contract either way. Most customers are on weekly or biweekly mowing, but one-time yard cleanups, trimming visits, single fertilizer applications, landscape installs and rental turnovers are all available on their own.
Jose Hernandez and his own crew. He quotes the work himself, is on the properties, and is who you call or text with a question. No call center, no rotating subcontractor, and no explaining your yard to somebody new every month.

Jose and his crew did a terrific job with our yard maintenance! This is our first week with them and they did an amazing job. We have an oversized multi-level lot and they were very thorough with the mowing, weed-eating and blowing and cleaned everything up very well. So glad to have them!

ABOUT LEWISVILLE, TEXAS

The City We Work In

Lewisville sits in Denton County along I-35E, just below the dam that holds Lake Lewisville. With roughly 130,000 residents it is the largest city on our route and one of the largest in the county, spread across a much wider area than the small cities that surround it.
It started as a farming community on the Elm Fork of the Trinity, and Old Town along Main Street is still recognizably that older town: small blocks, alleys, and trees that predate most of the metroplex. Everything east and south of it arrived later, in waves, as DFW pushed north.
That layered growth is what makes the city interesting to work in. Within a fifteen-minute drive you can go from a 1955 cottage under a pecan canopy to a 2019 build with sod six months old. Both are Lewisville lawns and almost nothing about their care is the same.
Jose Hernandez has worked lawns across North Texas for more than 20 years and now maintains over 100 properties. Enough of them are in Lewisville that the route runs through the city most weeks of the year.
