COPPELL LAWN CARE
Your Lawn Care Company in Coppell, Texas
Looking for a lawn care company in Coppell, TX? Jhernandez Lawn Service is a family-owned business proudly serving the area, run by owner Jose Hernandez. He has worked lawns in this part of North Texas for more than 20 years and today looks after more than 100 properties across Coppell and the surrounding cities.
Coppell is a small city with a specific problem: watering is capped at two days a week year round, and those days are assigned by your street address. Every choice we make on a Coppell property — mowing height, fertilizer rate, when beds get mulched — is built around that limit instead of ignoring it.
Everything is quoted in writing before we start, and there is no contract to sign. You call or text Jose directly, he prices the work himself, and he is on the properties with his own crew.

WHAT WE DO
Lawn Service in Coppell, TX
One crew for the whole property, from the weekly cut to fertilization, trimming and full landscape installs.
Lawn Mowing in Coppell, TX
Weekly or biweekly mowing, cut high on purpose so the root zone stays shaded between watering days. Weed-eating, edging along every walk and drive, and hard surfaces blown clean.
Lawn Fertilization in Coppell
Applications timed to soil temperature and to your watering days, since fertilizer that cannot be watered in does nothing. Pre-emergent, broadleaf control and iron for pale color.
Landscaping in Coppell, TX
Bed design and installation, plantings, edging, stone borders and front-yard renovations, with plant choices that survive on a two-day watering schedule.
Tree Trimming in Coppell, TX
Routine trimming and shaping kept inside what the city ordinance allows without a permit. If a tree on your lot looks protected, we tell you before we touch it.
Yard Cleanup in Coppell, TX
Spring and fall cleanups, overgrown lots, rental turnovers, bed weeding and re-edging, with everything hauled off.
Leaf Removal in Coppell, TX
One-time or season-long clearing of lawn, beds, fence lines and reachable gutters, from the first drop in October through February.
Sod Installation in Coppell, TX
New bermuda, St. Augustine or zoysia on graded, prepped ground. New sod qualifies for a temporary watering variance from the city, and we walk you through requesting it.
Mulch Installation in Coppell, TX
Beds weeded and re-edged, then fresh hardwood, cedar or black mulch at the right depth. On a restricted watering schedule mulch is not decoration, it is what keeps beds alive.
Planting Services in Coppell, TX
Trees, shrubs, perennials and seasonal color, weighted toward drought-tolerant and Texas-adapted plants that hold up between watering days.

RECURRING SERVICE
Lawn Maintenance in Coppell TX, Year Round
Most Coppell customers are not buying one mow. They are handing off the whole calendar: what gets cut, when it gets fed, when beds get refreshed, and what happens the week a freeze or a drought stage changes the plan.
MAR – MAY
Spring
Cleanup, first cuts, spring feeding, bed re-edging and mulch. Aeration once the turf is actively growing. This is also when irrigation controllers get reset to the correct two days.
JUN – SEP
Summer
Weekly mowing at the highest sensible height, sharp blades, light feeding with iron. The no-watering window in the middle of the day means the lawn has to carry itself through the afternoon on its own.
OCT – DEC
Fall
Fall pre-emergent and winterizer, leaf removal on a repeat schedule, and cutting back perennials. Watering demand drops but the two-day limit still applies.
JAN – FEB
Winter
Dormant-season trimming, cleanups, and late-winter pre-emergent timed to soil temperature. The single application that decides how much crabgrass you fight all summer.
BEFORE YOU CUT
Coppell Tree Service and the Tree Preservation Ordinance
Coppell protects its tree canopy by ordinance. Homeowners are often surprised to learn that removing a protected tree, or pruning one heavily enough to count as substantial alteration, can require a permit and mitigation. Routine trimming does not.
We keep our work firmly inside routine maintenance: shaping, deadwood, clearance over the roof and drive, thinning a canopy enough to get light back down to the grass. If what you are asking for looks like it crosses into permit territory, we say so up front and point you at the city rather than taking the tree down and leaving you with the paperwork.
Usually no permit: shaping, deadwood removal, raising a canopy, crape myrtle pruning, hedge and shrub work.
Check with the city first: removing a protected or specimen tree, or pruning heavy enough to substantially alter the canopy.
General guidance only, not a legal determination. Permit requirements are set by the City of Coppell and depend on species, trunk size and scope of work.
TWO SIDES OF TOWN
West Coppell and East Coppell Are Not the Same Lawn
Coppell runs from the Elm Fork of the Trinity on its western edge up onto the prairie in the east, and the ground changes as you cross it. That is why two neighbors a few streets apart can follow the same watering schedule and get different results.
West — toward the Elm Fork
Lighter, sandier river-bottom soil. Drains quickly, warms early, and does not hold nutrients well. Lawns here dry out first between watering days and do better on lighter, more frequent feeding than one heavy application.
East — toward Denton Tap and the prairie
Heavier alkaline clay. Holds water after a storm, then compacts and cracks in August. High pH ties up iron, so the lawn can go pale even when nitrogen is fine. Aeration and iron matter more here than extra nitrogen.
The practical version: we do not run one program across the whole city. Same services, different rates and timing depending on which side of Coppell your house sits on and what the soil actually does with the two days of water it gets.
WHY COPPELL HOMEOWNERS CALL US
What You Get With a Local Owner-Operator
01
One Person Accountable
Jose quotes the job, works the properties and answers the phone. No call center, no rotating subcontractor, no explaining your yard to someone new every month.
02
Scheduling That Respects the Rules
We know which days your address can water and plan cuts and applications around them. Fertilizer goes down when it can actually be watered in, not whenever the truck is nearby.
03
Written Prices, No Contract
Every job is priced in writing before it starts and the mowing rate holds for the season. Nothing gets added to a bill that wasn’t quoted first.
04
Everything From One Crew
Mowing, feeding, trimming, beds, sod and cleanups handled by the same people. Nobody has to coordinate three vendors to get a yard looking right.

GOOD TO KNOW
Coppell Lawn Care Questions
Weekly and biweekly mowing is priced by lawn size and access, and fertilization is priced per application by turf area — we measure the actual grass rather than the lot. Everything is quoted in writing and the mowing rate holds for the season. Landscaping, tree work, sod and cleanups are quoted by the job after a free walkthrough.
Coppell is under year-round twice-weekly watering limits, and your days are assigned by address: even-numbered addresses water Tuesday and Saturday, odd-numbered addresses water Wednesday and Sunday. Automatic irrigation is not allowed during the hottest part of the day in the warm months. Hand watering with a shutoff nozzle, soaker hoses and drip irrigation are allowed any day. Confirm the current stage on the City of Coppell water conservation page before setting a controller, since restrictions tighten during drought.
Routine trimming and light maintenance pruning generally do not require a permit. Removing a protected tree, or pruning heavily enough to count as substantial alteration of the canopy, falls under the city tree preservation ordinance and can require a permit plus replacement or mitigation. We keep our trimming inside routine maintenance, and if a tree on your property looks like it falls under the ordinance we tell you before we touch it rather than after.
All of Coppell, TX 75019, including Old Town Coppell, Riverchase, Northlake Woodlands, Coppell Greens, the Lakes of Coppell, and the neighborhoods along Denton Tap, MacArthur Boulevard, Sandy Lake Road and Parkway Boulevard. Just outside the city we also serve Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Grapevine, Colleyville, Addison, Plano, Highland Village and Corinth.
Coppell straddles two different soils. West Coppell sits closer to the Elm Fork of the Trinity and carries lighter, sandier river-bottom soil that drains fast and does not hold nutrients well, so it dries out sooner between watering days and does better on lighter, more frequent feeding. East of Denton Tap it is heavier alkaline clay that holds water after a storm, then compacts and cracks in August, and ties up iron so the lawn goes pale even when nitrogen is fine. Same city, two different watering and fertilizer plans.
Raise the cut. Taller grass shades its own root zone, holds soil moisture longer and needs less water to stay green, which matters when the schedule is fixed. We keep blades sharp, because a clean cut loses less water than a torn one, and we never remove more than about a third of the blade in a single pass. Mowing height is the cheapest drought tool a Coppell homeowner has.
New sod and new landscape installs are the one case where the city will generally allow additional watering for an establishment period, but it is a variance you request, not an automatic exemption. We tell you what the install needs, and you confirm the current terms with the city before the sod goes down.
Both, and there is no contract either way. Most customers are on weekly or biweekly mowing, but one-time yard cleanups, trimming visits, single fertilizer applications and installs are all available on their own.
Jose Hernandez and his own crew. He quotes the work himself, is on the properties, and is who you call or text with a question. No call center, no rotating subcontractor, and no explaining your yard to somebody new every month.

ABOUT COPPELL, TEXAS
The City We Work In
Coppell sits in the northwest corner of Dallas County, wedged between DFW Airport and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, in the single 75019 zip code. It is a compact city of roughly 42,000 people and about fifteen square miles, and it is close to fully built out — there is very little open land left to develop.
That matters for lawns. In a city that stopped expanding, attention shifts to maintaining what exists. Coppell put real effort into its parks, its trails along the Elm Fork, and its tree canopy, and it backs that up with ordinances. Residential standards follow the same logic: people here keep their yards up, and the city gives them a benchmark.
The housing is mostly 1980s through early 2000s suburban, newer than Farmers Branch or Carrollton, with irrigation systems installed from the start. That is a mixed blessing. Almost every Coppell lawn has a sprinkler system, and a lot of those controllers are set to a schedule that is no longer legal or no longer matches what the grass needs.
Jose Hernandez has worked lawns in and around Coppell for more than 20 years and now maintains over 100 properties across the area. Two decades on the same streets teaches you which subdivisions sit on river-bottom sand, which ones bake on clay, and where the grass under an old post oak is never going to fill in no matter what you feed it.
