LAWN CARE IN PLANO TX
Your Lawn Care Company in Plano, Texas
Looking for a lawn care company in Plano, TX? Jhernandez Lawn Service is a family-owned business proudly serving the area, run by owner Jose Hernandez. He has worked lawns across North Texas for more than 20 years and today looks after more than 100 properties.
We concentrate on west and southwest Plano, the side of the city that runs down into Carrollton where our route already is. That is deliberate. A crew that is already three streets away can hold a real schedule; a crew driving across a city of 285,000 people cannot.
Everything is quoted in writing before we start, and there is no contract to sign. You call or text Jose directly, he prices the work himself, and he is on the properties with his own crew.
✓ 20+ years working North Texas lawns
✓ 100+ properties on the route
✓ Kept to HOA standards, every visit
✓ West and southwest Plano route days
✓ Written pricing, no contract

WHY PLANO CALLS US
Staying Ahead of the HOA Letter
Plano is one of the most HOA-governed cities in North Texas. Most homeowners here are not trying to win a yard-of-the-month award — they want the yard to stop being something they have to think about, and they do not want an envelope from the association.
The useful thing about HOA standards is that they are specific. The same five items generate almost every letter, and all five are ordinary maintenance rather than anything difficult.
Grass over the height limit
Bermuda in a Plano June can cross a six-inch covenant limit in about ten days. This is why biweekly service through the growing season puts people out of compliance without them doing anything wrong.
Edges grown over concrete
Grass creeping across the sidewalk and curb line is the most commonly cited item and the most visible from a car. We edge every walk, drive and curb on every visit, not when it starts to look bad.
Weeds in the beds
Beds are judged separately from the lawn in most covenants, and they are what a mowing-only service leaves behind. Bed weeding and re-edging is part of maintenance here rather than an add-on.
Dead shrubs left standing
A dead plant in a front bed is a citable item in most Plano associations. We flag them as we see them and replace them with something suited to the light that spot actually gets.
Thin or missing mulch
Mulch breaks down and washes out, and bare soil in a front bed reads as neglected. A refresh once or twice a year handles it and does more for curb appeal than anything else at that price.
Already got a letter?
Bring it to the walkthrough. We will read what it actually cites, price exactly that, and get it done inside the cure period. Then the recurring schedule keeps it from happening again.
WHAT WE DO
Lawn Care Services in Plano, TX
One crew for the whole property, from the weekly cut to fertilization, trimming and full landscape installs.
Lawn Mowing Service in Plano TX
Weekly or biweekly mowing at the right height for your grass, plus weed-eating, edging along every walk, drive and curb, and hard surfaces blown clean. Weekly is what keeps you inside a height covenant.
Lawn Care Fertilizer Service
Five to six applications a year, timed to soil temperature rather than the calendar. Available on its own if you mow your own lawn.
Mulch Installation in Plano TX
Beds weeded and re-edged, old crusted mulch broken up, then fresh hardwood, cedar or black mulch at the right depth and kept off the trunks. Mulch spreading on existing beds is quoted by the yard.
Tree Trimming in Plano TX
Tree and shrub trimming, hedges shaped, crape myrtles pruned properly, deadwood and low limbs cleared, and canopies thinned to get light back to the grass.
Landscape Design in Plano TX
Bed layout, plant selection and a written plan before a shovel moves, with Texas-adapted plants chosen for the light your yard actually gets rather than the light the tag assumes.
Yard Cleanup Services in Plano
Spring and fall cleanups, overgrown and vacant lots, rental turnovers, bed weeding and re-edging, with everything hauled off.
Sod Installation in Plano TX
New bermuda, St. Augustine or zoysia laid on properly prepped ground. On heavy clay the prep and the grading matter more than the sod, and we do not skip them.
Leaf Removal Services in Plano TX
One-time or season-long clearing of lawn, beds, fence lines and reachable gutters, with everything hauled away rather than blown into the street.
Planting Services
Trees, shrubs, flower beds, perennials and seasonal color, with beds amended rather than dug as a hole full of bagged soil dropped into clay.

RECURRING SERVICE
Lawn Maintenance in Plano TX, Season by Season
Most customers hand off the whole year rather than booking a single cut. Lawn maintenance services in Plano TX cover what gets mowed and when, when the lawn gets fed, when beds get refreshed, and what happens the week a freeze or a heat run changes the plan.
MAR – MAY
Spring
Cleanup, first cuts, spring feeding, bed re-edging and mulch. This is when a front yard either gets ahead of the year or spends the whole summer behind it.
JUN – SEP
Summer
Weekly mowing, cut high, sharp blades, clippings left down. Growth is fast enough here that weekly is a compliance question, not a preference.
OCT – DEC
Fall
Fall pre-emergent and winterizer, leaf removal on a repeat schedule, perennials cut back, mulch topped up before winter.
JAN – FEB
Winter
Dormant-season trimming, structural pruning, landscape installs, and late-winter pre-emergent timed to soil temperature. The one application that decides your crabgrass summer.
TREATMENT PROGRAM
Lawn Care Fertilizer Service and Weed Control in Plano TX
You can book the treatment program on its own. Plenty of Plano customers mow their own lawn and only want the part that is easy to get wrong: what goes down, at what rate, and when.
LATE WINTER
Pre-Emergent, Timed
Down and watered in before soil temperatures reach the mid-fifties and hold. Usually late February into early March in Collin County, but it follows the weather, not the calendar. Miss it and you spray all summer.
SPRING & SUMMER
Feeding and Broadleaf Control
Green-up feeding, a summer application with iron, and spot broadleaf control as things come up. Heavy nitrogen in peak Texas heat does damage, so summer feeding stays light.
FALL
Second Pre-Emergent
A fall application stops cool-season weeds before they germinate, which is why some lawns come out of winter clean and the one next door comes out full of henbit and poa annua.
THE HONEST PART
Spray Is Not the Whole Answer
Weeds fill gaps. You can spray every month and still have weeds if nothing is closing the space. Correct mowing height and watering that actually soaks into clay do more than another application.
LOCAL CONDITIONS
Watering a Plano Lawn on Blackland Clay
Plano sits squarely on Blackland Prairie clay. It holds nutrients well, which is why the prairie was farmed here in the first place, but it takes water slowly and it moves. Wet, it swells. Dry, it shrinks and opens the cracks you see across a Plano yard in August, tearing fine roots as it goes.
The practical consequence is that a standard fifteen-minute sprinkler cycle on clay mostly runs off. The soil cannot absorb it that fast, so it sheets across the surface and into the street, and the lawn stays dry two inches down while the water bill goes up.
Cycle and soak: split the run into shorter cycles with a gap between them so each one has time to absorb. Same total water, far more of it in the ground. This costs nothing and is the single biggest improvement available to most Plano lawns.
Deep and infrequent, not daily: watering a little every day keeps roots shallow, right in the layer that dries out first. Fewer, longer soakings train roots downward, which is what carries a lawn through a Texas August.
Mow high: taller grass shades its own root zone and slows evaporation out of the top of the soil. Scalping a lawn in June on clay ground is how it ends up brown in July.
DESIGN AND INSTALLATION
Landscaping Services in Plano TX
Beds, borders, plantings, sod and mulch, designed and installed by the same crew that will maintain them afterward. Every landscape job is quoted by the job with a written plant list before anything is ordered — no allowances, no plants to be determined later.
Front-yard renovations
The most common job in Plano: original builder shrubs now thirty years overgrown, beds crept out of their edges, crusted mulch above the crown of everything. One to three days, and it changes the whole street view.
Beds, borders and edging
New beds cut and shaped, stone or steel borders set, existing beds re-edged back to a clean line. Edges are what make a yard read as maintained from the curb.
Plants that survive clay
Texas-adapted selections that tolerate heavy soil and the shrink-swell that comes with it. Beds get amended across the whole bed rather than one bagged-soil hole per plant.
Kept up afterward
Shrubs shaped on a schedule, beds weeded, mulch refreshed, seasonal color swapped. Bundled with mowing or booked on its own, so an install does not slowly go back to what it was.
WHY PLANO HOMEOWNERS CALL US
What You Get With a Local Owner-Operator
01
A Person, Not a Platform
Search lawn care in Plano and most of what comes back is booking apps and national chains that sell your address to whoever is nearest. Jose quotes the job, works the properties and answers the phone himself.
02
A Route, Not a Detour
We work the Carrollton side of Plano because that is where our route already runs. Same day each week, every week, rather than whenever a truck can be spared from across town.
03
Written Prices, No Contract
Every job is priced in writing before it starts and the mowing rate holds for the season. Nothing gets added to a bill that was not quoted first.
04
Everything From One Crew
Mowing, treatments, trimming, beds, mulch, sod and cleanups handled by the same people, which is also what keeps every citable item on one list instead of three vendors’.

GOOD TO KNOW
Plano Lawn Care Questions
Mowing is priced by measured turf area and access rather than a flat rate. Fertilizer and weed control are priced per application by turf area. We measure the actual grass rather than the lot, quote it in writing, and hold the mowing price for the season. Landscaping, tree work, sod, mulch and cleanups are quoted by the job after a free walkthrough.
We concentrate on west and southwest Plano, the side of the city that runs into Carrollton. That means Willow Bend, Preston Meadow, Old Shepard Place, the Parker Road and Spring Creek corridors, Plano Parkway, and the Midway, Marsh and Ohio corridors that run straight down into our Carrollton route. We do take work in other parts of Plano, but that side of the city is where our route already runs, so scheduling is easier and the service is more consistent.
That is most of why people in Plano call us. Plano is one of the most HOA-governed cities in North Texas, and the things that generate letters are specific and predictable: grass over the height limit, edges grown over the sidewalk and curb, weeds in the beds, dead shrubs left in place, and mulch that has thinned out. A yard on a weekly schedule with edging every visit does not generate those letters. If you have already received one, bring it to the walkthrough and we will price exactly what it asks for.
Weekly from roughly April through September, biweekly in the shoulder seasons. Most HOA covenants in Plano set a maximum grass height, and bermuda in a Texas June can cross a six-inch limit in about ten days. Biweekly service through the growing season is how people end up out of compliance without doing anything wrong.
Plano sits on Blackland Prairie clay, which swells when wet and shrinks when dry. In August that shrinkage opens visible cracks in the ground and tears fine roots as it moves. Clay also takes water slowly, so a normal sprinkler cycle mostly runs off into the street. Watering longer and less often, in shorter cycles with a soak between them, does more for a Plano lawn than any product.
Yes. Plenty of Plano customers mow their own lawn and only want the treatment program handled properly. Fertilizer and weed control can be booked on its own without mowing service, on a five or six application schedule across the year.
Late winter, before soil temperatures reach the mid-fifties and hold there. That is usually late February into early March in Collin County, but it follows the weather rather than the calendar. Miss the window and you spend the whole summer spraying crabgrass that one timed application would have prevented. A second pre-emergent goes down in fall for cool-season weeds like henbit and poa annua.
Both. Landscaping services in Plano TX are a large part of what we do: bed design and installation, plant selection, stone borders and edging, sod, mulch installation and front-yard renovations. Landscape work is quoted by the job with a written plant list before anything is ordered, and the same crew that installs it can maintain it afterward.
Both, and there is no contract either way. Most customers are on weekly or biweekly mowing, but one-time yard cleanups, trimming visits, single fertilizer applications, mulch refreshes and landscape installs are all available on their own.
Jose Hernandez and his own crew. He quotes the work himself, is on the properties, and is who you call or text with a question. No call center, no booking app in between, no rotating subcontractor, and no explaining your yard to somebody new every month.

ABOUT PLANO, TEXAS
The City We Work In
Plano sits in Collin County at the north edge of the metroplex, with roughly 285,000 residents. It is the largest city we serve by a wide margin — bigger than Lewisville, Carrollton and Flower Mound combined — and it is corporate headquarters country, with the office campuses along the Legacy corridor and the Dallas North Tollway.
Like the rest of the Blackland Prairie, this was farmland before it was suburb. The city grew explosively from the 1970s onward, and it grew in planned neighborhoods with associations attached, which is why HOA standards shape lawn care here more than in any other city on our route.
We work the west and southwest side, closest to our Carrollton base. Plano is large enough that a company claiming to serve all of it either has a lot of trucks or is not really serving all of it, and we would rather be honest about which streets we are on each week.
Jose Hernandez has worked lawns across North Texas for more than 20 years and now maintains over 100 properties. The clay under Plano is the same clay he has been working in Carrollton for two decades.
